Complicated in a Simple Manner

This is a blog about me and my complicated, simple life. I am an easy person because I have no preferences, and I'll always try anything once. But, I'm also difficult because I'm so easy. Confused yet? Read and enjoy the ups and downs of my everyday life.

Baseball: What's Not to Love

A couple years ago I couldn't have named one baseball player if I was dangling over a school of hungry sharks. While I love playing sports, watching them is another matter. Then I met the love of my life and baseball is a huge part of him. So I gave it a try and I have to admit it is a down right fascinated sport. Baseball has no instant replay, you have 3 umpires who call em as they see em, and you have fans yelling at the tv when they don't see em right. But then you also have a fan cheering that ump when the call goes in your favor. Since I didn't know anything about baseball, the team I watched first and the most has been the SF Giants. I have become a faithful orange and black supporter. It just so happens the first year I watch baseball the infamous Barry Bonds is out with a bum knee, so I've never seen him play, don't know his charisma, and well he's just not that important to me. I believe every fan of baseball should have a baseball boyfriend, and true fans probably do. A special player you can yell at, encourage, idolize, can do no wrong, even if they do strike out alot. Well the first player to catch my eye on the Giants was Pedro Feliz, so he became mine. I encourage him, curse him when he flails wildly at the sliders, and always hold my breath when he's batting, hoping for that game winning hit, or homerun. Pedro has been stuck around in alot of positions, left field, first base, shortstop, a versatile player with not much english. He just wants to play and it doesn't matter that he has no set position. But now, here we are on 2006 and it is looking like he will be the starting 3rd baseman. If he can acquire a stable position, I have huge, big hopes that he will settle down and become the hitter I know he can be. This year me and Allan are attending Fan Fest for the Giants. My one great hope is to see Pedro there, and get a picture with him, but he is also playing in the World Baseball games, so he probably won't be there. I will have another chance when we go to Scottsdale for Spring Training, 3 games, 3 chances to catch my baseball boyfriend, perhaps I will be able to form a sentence and he won't think I am a blithering idiot. We went to a Giants game in 2005, and I had a chance to get a picture of Pedro, but I ended up freezing up when he turned to look at me. Pathetic even by my standards. It has been a long, cold winter with no baseball, I have to go to the archives and watch the past plays to get my fix. I frequent McCovey Chronicles to keep up to date on all the baseball news. Pedro may never be as big a star as Willie Mays, but in my eyes he's the player that shines the brightest on a diamond.
